“Lala” was born into a family of four corners, a triangular house, and a world that tries to divide everything into two—just two: left or right, yes or no, black or white. Yet, the little child doesn’t even know whether they should call themselves a girl or a boy. In a society that does not allow anyone to be gray, Lala can’t fit in with anyone, anything, or anything at all. The one thing Lala knows is that a freedom they’ve never experienced before exists in the underwater world, an empty vastness filled with life.
