Cedric saw the first bonfire dying down, so he moved to go over,
dragging the wood he had piled on the other side to throw at it. But when he turned and saw someone sitting with their knees hugged to their chest, eyelids closed, swaying back and forth, about to fall, the young man frowned. Just then, Pandao lost her balance while dozing off, leaning to the right as if about to fall onto the sand.
“…”
And with slow and gentle movements, Cedric moved quickly and silently. In a fraction of a second, he slid to sit beside her and raised his arm to catch the sleeping woman, ending up embracing Pandao, who was completely unaware of what was happening. Her hands, which had been hugging her knees, slid down onto his lap, her chubby cheeks rubbing against his chest to find the most comfortable position. In that moment, Cedric almost held his breath, afraid she would wake up, but Pandao continued to sleep peacefully.
“My little hubby one,” he murmured softly, and the other hand, which wasn’t protectively embracing her shoulder, was even swatting away insects for her.
