I swear, that Grade 11 kid is impossible to talk to. Every time someone says something simple, he turns it into a whole science lecture, like when I apologized and he started going on about gravity and how everything is pulled toward each other. I’m a school athlete, not a physicist, how am I supposed to keep up with that? And then one day, out of nowhere, he tells me I am like the North Star, and before I can even react, he launches into this long explanation about Polaris, brightness, distance, and whatever else. I stood there pretending to understand, but honestly, I had no clue what he was talking about. It was only later that I realized all that rambling was his way of saying something simple.
