The Oddly Ordinary Life
The Oddly Ordinary Life

11-12 years have passed since I conceived the idea of compiling the short story collection “Normal Life” and its initial release. It feels like it wasn’t that long ago. Everything that happened and is reflected in this collection still recurs in Thai society. People see it as normal, either out of a sense of decency, or out of a sense of decency, yet they still do it as normal. I don’t need to explain what these things are, from corruption among civil servants, politicians, and businesses, to everyday occurrences like riding motorcycles on sidewalks or driving against traffic, even basic manners like being mindful of noise in public places, or things that should be done but aren’t. When someone does them, they become considered good deeds, receiving much praise. Simply put, things that people should do but don’t, become abnormal when someone does them.
Frankly, I didn’t intend to write about the lives of people in society or the ordinary daily lives of individuals in this collection. Instead, I used small details to illustrate the bigger picture, in a satirical, biting, and questioning way—spoken directly. It’s a reflection of politics in Thai society.
The time I spent writing this collection helped me discover my own writing style. The short stories I wrote after this… Including novels, they all follow this style and writing method: short, concise, and without excess content, as many people describe.
This year, I’ve compiled them into an ebook format, something that has never been available before. Thank you for purchasing this book.
