In 2008, Baan & Suan Publishing published a book, “Thai Auspicious Plants and Herbs (Revised and Expanded Edition),” compiled by Mr. Narongsak Khan-otham. This book featured over 200 species of plants in this category, along with detailed descriptions of beliefs and rituals for worshipping them. It was very well received by readers.
To this day, the belief in “auspicious plants” remains strong among Thais. Therefore, Baan & Suan Publishing has produced this book, “Auspicious Plants: Lucky Plants,” to showcase traditionally associated plants and new species, along with narratives of Thai and international beliefs, and the uses of these plants as medicinal and food sources. The book highlights over 200 species, particularly focusing on miraculous tales – a matter of personal belief requiring discretion. It also recommends popular gardens that produce and sell auspicious plants, and includes cultivation techniques for readers to learn from. Ultimately,
regardless of which auspicious plant we choose to cultivate, the most important thing is that family members work together to care for it and help it grow beautifully. Receiving full benefits from the plants around the house means that everyone in the house receives good things in return. That is the miracle of “auspicious trees” that are worthy of us…. Let’s plant “auspicious trees” around our house.
