“That’s right, because we’re all born to be happy, aren’t we?”
“Not me.”
“Why?”
“Not everyone is born to be happy. I was born to experience suffering, and then pass that suffering on to others.”
“No,” Marie held Gorwen’s hand. She didn’t know what he’d been through, but after spending time together, she knew he had deep wounds.
He had nightmares at night and usually wore a tense, serious expression.
“If that were the case, I wouldn’t be this happy when I’m with you.”
Gorwen smiled faintly. No matter how well he reasoned, he always lost to Marie. She was the one who always made him forget himself.
“Is that so? But I want you…” Gorwen took her hand and kissed the back of it, his alluring brown eyes gazing into her clear ones, then lowering his gaze
to her full lips, letting her know he desired to possess them.
“…to feel something else when you’re with me.”
“Feel what?”
“Feel lustful.”
Marie should be used to his double entendres by now, but she wasn’t. She never was, and probably never would be. Conversing with such a wicked man required immense shamelessness.
“Whatever feeling you have…” “There’s always a happy feeling to it, you know? Even if I’m horny, it’s a happy kind of horniness,” she said.
“You little troublemaker,”
he sneered. “What?” she laughed at his disappointed expression.
“I’m too tired to argue with you. Let’s go to sleep.” The tall man turned his head and closed his eyes, but his hand still held her small hand, refusing to let go.
“Hey,”
a soft voice beside her made her turn to look. She found he was still asleep, but his lips moved slightly as he spoke softly,
“No matter what, I want you to like me a lot, but absolutely do not love me. Remember that. Just like me, that’s enough. Don’t love me.”
Marie didn’t understand what he was saying. You couldn’t order something like that. He was so
narrow-minded. She’d only ever seen people who had never loved anyone, but this… he was the type who wouldn’t let anyone love him.
“I’m not promising that,”
she said. Gorwen immediately opened his eyes. He glared at her, but Marie just smiled, unfazed.
“And when the time comes that I leave you, don’t cry your eyes out,” he added
. “That… I promise,” she replied
. ‘Ugh!’ Gorwen yelled inwardly. Marie was so good at irritating him. ‘How can she be so cute?’
