“Where is it?”
“…”
The young man’s voice made her pause and think. She looked up at him. He was standing in front of the bookshelf and turned to face her.
“Where’s the travel book you mentioned? I don’t see it.”
“It’s on the top shelf,”
she said. Daniel nodded, looked again, but then turned back. “It’s not here.”
Kasira frowned, quickly getting up and walking to the tall, wall-mounted bookshelf. She tiptoed to look at the top shelf. She had put it away herself when she bought it. Why wouldn’t it be there? The woman, worried about her aunt, was slightly irritated. She held the shelf with one hand, tiptoeing and craning her neck to look, then her eyes followed the spines of the books. She exhaled when she saw the spine of the book she wanted.
“Here it is,” she said, then froze, stiffening as she realized he had walked up behind her and reached for the book he had just mentioned. The warmth of the young man’s body was behind her, and she could even smell his toothpaste when he spoke.
“That’s right, it’s here.”
Daniel took the book, but deliberately didn’t move away. He stood almost touching the curvaceous figure of the Thai woman between him and the bookshelf. His mouth spoke, but his eyes were fixed on her small head below. They were very close. So close… if he leaned in just a little more, his midsection would touch the firm, curvaceous hips of her woman. Daniel, the cold, dark brown man, seemed to intensify even more. Was the scent of his enemy’s woman, the one he utterly hated, so intoxicating? This Thai woman, Kasira, possessed a strange allure he had never felt in anyone before. The young man narrowed his eyes. Perhaps it was the challenge, the desire to conquer, the craving for satisfaction that fueled his ‘desire’ for her so intensely.
Kasira stood still, knowing how close he was. She bit her lip in anger, yet still didn’t elbow him as she wished. He didn’t know Thai customs. “Calm down, calm down,” she told herself. Daniel smirked, knowing she wouldn’t turn around because it would only put her at a greater disadvantage. The Lee family leader stepped back, opening a book, maintaining his usual emotionless expression. Before walking towards the stairs, he said
, “Thank you.”
“…”
Kasira turned to look at the tall figure who was engrossed in reading an English-language travel guide with vibrant, colorful pictures that she had bought as an extra service for the guests at the Nuanmunnian house. She blinked, then let out a long sigh, patted the back of her head to regain her composure, and sat cross-legged on the cushion. “Calm down, Nuanmun, calm down,” the young woman shook her head quickly.
